Menopause and PMS Guide
Breaking News on Menopause and PMS relief.
As most women know, the onset of menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55. Menopause itself is just the term used to refer to the end of menstruation.
At the end of menstruation, a woman's ovaries stop their production of eggs....marking the end of a female's fertile years.
This is often accompanied by uncomfortable menopausal symptoms because the levels of female hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, once in abundance, gradually become depleted.
Menopause and PMS Symptoms
Menopause symptoms include hot flashes, flushing of the skin, weight gain, bloating, cramping, and loss of libido. Heavy, irregular bleeding and vaginal dryness are also often symptoms as well.
PMS symptoms are often similar, and include such things as: bloating, irritability, mood swings, depression, fatigue, headaches, and more. Of course, severity of symptoms will differ from woman to woman and some women may not experience all of these symptoms....the aforementioned are just a general overview.
Treatments
Two of the most common conventional menopause treatments are ERT (Estrogen Replacement Therapy), and HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy).
There are various risks associated with both ERT and HRT as treatments. Indeed on August 8th 2003, a landmark study was released. It was the largest study ever of its kind: over 1 million women in the UK on HRT revealed that HRT (progestagen-oestrogen) quadrupled the risk of breast cancer.
Because of such unfavorable news of conventional treatments, many women are now turning to natural treatments, such as herbal extracts.
On this site we will describe conventional treatments in more detail -- both their pros and cons -- and also discuss the growing importance of natural remedies as well....and how they purportedly work to alleviate symptoms.
